Sci Fi Highlights: Premieres for The Ark S3 and The Librarians: The Next Chapter S2, the Robocop Series Moves Forward at Amazon, and More

Sci Fi TV Highlights: Weekly post looking at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.  The dates and times shown below can change with little to no notice.

Sci Fi TV Premieres:

The Ark (Syfy): Captain Sharon Garnet and the crew of Ark One embark on their most ambitious adventure yet with bigger missions, new dangers, and humanity’s next chapter of survival. Will Homebase 1 become the future of civilization, or uncover secrets that could destroy it? Premieres Wednesday at 10 PM EST.

Batman: Caped Crusader (Prime Video): Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications. All Season 2 episodes will be available on Wednesday.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter (TNT): This season, the team must confront not only external threats but also their own deepest fears and darkest nightmares. Lysa and Connor grapple with the realities of their new roles as Librarians, while Charlie struggles under the weight of being the team’s sole Guardian. Vikram, meanwhile, must surrender his lone-wolf instincts to fully embrace team mentality. Further complicating matters, the group unexpectedly crosses paths with legendary magician Merlin, who challenges the very foundation of the Library and tempts them to break its most sacred rule. Premieres Sunday at 9 PM EST.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:

The Robocop reboot TV series has moved into production.

Amazon has officially given the greenlight to series for Robocop which has been in production since 2024. Deadline gives the following description for the property:

In Robocop, a giant tech conglomerate convinces the city to place a powerful robot on its police force – a robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer.

Peter Ocko (Moonhaven) will be onboard as showrunner, James Wan (MEGAN) will be executive producing, and Blumhouse Atomic Monster will be the production company. A premiere window for this has not been set yet, but since they have been working on if for a while, it could arrive as early as 2027.

Three of the Severance team are starting up a new project as Adam Scott, Ezra Claytan Daniels, and Eli Jorné will be adapting the graphic novel Shifter by Koren Shadmi for Hulu. Deadline gives the following description of the property:

It is set in the near-future, where a banned cosmetic procedure lets people change their faces on the fly, creating a new underground industry of Shifters, who can become anyone you want, for any purpose you can imagine, for a fee. Rose is making a name for herself as one of the best, but the more she gives to her gigs, the more she risks losing herself.

This project is only just ramping up, so expect a late-2027 premiere at best.

In production news, work has begun on Afterlife with Archie at Disney+, based on the comic, a sequel to Netflix’s War Machines, and it appears that things are moving forward with the fourth season of The Orville. You can read about those and more in our latest Sci Fi TV Production Report.

In renewals, AMC has given a fourth season nod to its supernatural drama Interview with the Vampire, and it will be adapting Queen of the Damned.  More on that at this link.

There is more sci fi TV news coming out of San Diego Comic Con this past weekend along with quite a number of trailers. Watch for a rundown on those tomorrow at AxiomsEdgeSciFi.com.
