Digital Ratings: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Returns to Number 1

We have digital ratings numbers for the week! The Hollywood Reporter is the site that gives those the most coverage to the Nielsen Streaming Top 10, though last week nothing was posted there that I could find nor on the other entertainment news sites. But numbers have been released for the week of April 12th thru 18th. Disney+’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier released its fifth episode that week and that show returned to the Number 1 slot in the Top 10 for streaming originals with an estimated 855 million minutes of viewing. One more genre entry was in the Top 10 as Amazon’s horror anthology Them placed at Number 2 for its second week of release. That one had an estimated 670 million minutes of viewing. Netflix’s supernatural drama The Irregulars dropped out of the Top 10, and that show has been cancelled after only one season. In the Top 10 acquired shows, Supernatural remained as a regular in those rankings, placing at the Number 9 slot with 313 million minutes of viewing for its encore run on Netflix. In the Top 10 for movies, the Netflix original Thunder Force–a superhero parody starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer–held the Number 1 slot with 740 million minutes of viewing. You can see the full rankings at this link.

The Nielsen Streaming Ratings rank the shows/movies on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and Hulu based on the number of minutes watched during the week by U.S. viewers on television sets (mobile devices are not included at this point). The numbers are extrapolated based on the Nielsen sampling of families who have meters monitoring their viewing habits. Also note, shows with more episodes available will tend to have a higher number of minutes watched.
