Ratings Results of Interest

On Tuesday of last week, The CW’s new Arrow-verse series Superman & Lois had its debut and pulled a 0.37 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 1.7 million total viewers. Those are strong numbers for that network these days and have the show off to a good start. Superhero shows tend to suffer from the curious-onlooker effect and lose viewers shortly after their premiere, though, so I will keep a close eye on this one’s numbers for the next few weeks.

On Monday of last week, TNT’s Snowpiercer gained some steam as it improved to a 0.27 rating with 845K total viewers. That show has already been renewed for a third season. Over on The CW, Black Lightning slipped to a 0.09 rating with 368K total viewers. That show is in its final season. On Wednesday on Syfy, Resident Alien improved to a 0.23 rating with 1.2 million total numbers. That show has been pulling the best numbers that network has seen for scripted programming for quite a while and appears to be on track for renewal.

On Sunday, The Walking Dead had a 0.92 rating with 2.9 million total viewers for the first of its expanded Season 10 episodes.  That is up a bit from the most recent new episode it aired.  The CW’s Charmed improved to a 0.09 rating with 336K total viewers after slipping to a series low the prior week. Batwoman slipped to a 0.10 rating with 456K total viewers. Both shows have already been renewed. Over on Starz, American Gods fell out of the Cable Top 150 for the night and I will update its numbers when they are available.

Below are the linear numbers for all the sci fi and fantasy entries from the past week. Sci Fi TV News of Note

ViacomCBS announced last week that it will be rebranding CBS All Access as Paramount+, but the reboot of The Twilight Zone will not be moving to the new service. That show has been cancelled after two seasons . . . The new Paramount+ streaming service will include the long-in-the-works Halo TV series. That show was originally headed to Showtime, but will now land on the streamer in early 2022 . . . A Terminator Anime series has been given the greenlight at Netflix.  Mattson Tomlin (The Batman) has been attached as writer and showrunner. Status Updates of Interest

For the status updates on all of the currently airing shows plus those awaiting word on their fate, go to this link.

Wandavision (Disney+, Streaming 1st Season, Status – Mini-Series): This is planned as a mini-series, but if it proves popular the characters could return for a sequel or possibly an ongoing series. More on that at this link.

Pandora (CW, 2nd Season Ended, Status – On the Bubble): This show’s second season numbers were low even for a CW entry and there has been no word on a third year at this point.  The network prefers to renew shows rather than cancel them and the same-day ratings are not as much of a driving force since it pays close attention to the digital viewing.  But fans should make noise on the social networks to help get his one a third season renewal.
