Arcane Renewed for Second Season by Netflix

Netflix has given a second season renewal to its animated series Arcane. Based on the League of Legends video game by Riot Games, the announcement came during the Undercity Nights event. Most Netflix shows release all of their episodes at one time, but this one was released in three-episodes “acts” across a three-week period.  For its first week, the show ranked at Number 2 in the new Netflix Top 10 rankings and had 34 million hours of viewing for the three episodes available.  The rankings for the second and third week are not available yet.  Netflix originals tend to cap off around their third or fourth season, though animated entries can sometimes go longer.  Production has begun on the second season and it will likely premiere at some point in 2022.

Arcane takes place amidst the escalating unrest between the utopian city of Piltover and the repressed underbelly of Zaun as sisters Vi and Jinx find themselves on opposing sides of a war over twisted ideologies and arcane technology. The voice cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, and Jason Spisak.
