FX Has Given Renewals to American Horror Stories and What We Do in the Shadows

FX has given a second season renewal to its horror anthology American Horror Stories which is currently streaming exclusively on Hulu under the FX on Hulu banner.  That spin-off from American Horror Story had its debut in July, and even though it has not cracked the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 yet, it has performed well so far according to the network as it is certainly drawing viewers from the AHS fanbase.  And seasons from the spin-off will almost certainly be packaged with the main series for future syndication/streaming sales.  American Horror Stories takes place in the same universe as AHS and presents one to two ep stories that revisit characters, themes, and/or ideas from the original series.  Its first season finale will be on August 19th and the second year is scheduled to arrive in 2022.

Also getting a renewal notice from FX is the supernatural comedy What We Do in the Shadows.  That show is set to return for its third season on FX on September 2nd and the network has given it an early fourth season renewal.  It has performed decently well in linear viewing across its first two seasons and it has also pulled in strong viewership on digital platforms.  Based on the 2014 mockumentary film of the same name, the show follows four vampires living on Staten Island and trying to get by in the modern world.  Both renewal announcements came during FX’s presentation at the TCAs.
