Sci Fi TV Listings for the Week of April 5th: Premieres for The Nevers and Them, New Eps of Fear the Walking Dead, and More

Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.

Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Shows Premiering This Week

This week brings two more premieres, one on cable and one on streaming, and one show returns for the second half of its current season.

The Nevers (HBO): In the last years of Victoria’s reign, London is beset by the “Touched”: people — mostly women — who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities, some charming, some very disturbing. Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched, while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces — to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place. The series premieres on Sunday at 9 PM EST.

Them (Prime Video): THEM is a limited anthology series that explores terror in America. The first season, 1950s-set COVENANT centers around a Black family who move from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during the period known as The Great Migration. The family’s idyllic home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces, next door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them. The series premieres on Friday with the first episode available for streaming

Fear the Walking Dead (AMC): This series returns for the second half of its sixth season on Sunday at 9 PM EST and will continue with the more episodic, character-focused stories it has offered in its current year. The back half of the season will consist of nine episodes that will wrap up in June.

Other Schedule Notes

Wynonna Earp has its season finale of Syfy on Friday. The show has been cancelled by that network, but the producers are shopping the show around and fans rally to support their efforts. On Sunday, Pennyworth wraps up its second season on EPIX. There has been no word on a third season of that show yet. The CW’s Riverdale is on hiatus now, and that one should resume new episodes next month.
