The availability of the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 has been rather sporadic lately, but Hollywood Reporter has posted the complete results for the week of January 25th to 31st. Netflix’s young adult fantasy series Fate: The Winx Saga was at the Number 2 slot for that week in the Top 10 original shows, pulling in 918 million minutes in viewership. The prior week, that show was at Number 8 in the consolidated Top 10 (the only numbers I could find for that week) with 670 million minutes of viewership. That show has been renewed for a second season by the streamer. Disney+’s Wandavision was at the Number 5 slot in the originals chart with 431 million minutes viewed. Netflix’s animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous also made it to the Top 10 at Number 8 with 319 million minutes of viewership.
Outlander entered the Top 10 for acquired series at the Number 5 slot with 654 million minutes as the fourth season of that show become available on Netfix that week. And the encore run of Supernatural on that streaming service remains popular as the show pulled in 519 million minutes of viewership in the Number 9 slot.
The Nielsen Streaming Ratings rank the shows/movies on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and Hulu based on the number of minutes watched during the week by U.S. viewers on television sets (mobile devices are not included at this point). The numbers are extrapolated based on the Nielsen sampling of families who have meters monitoring their viewing habits. Also note, shows with more episodes available will tend to have a higher number of minutes watched.
