Netflix’s young adult fantasy series Fate: The Winx Saga had its debut less than a month ago, and the streamer is already giving it the greenlight for a second season. I have not seen any viewership numbers for the show yet (the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 has not caught up to its premiere week yet), but this live-action series is based on the popular, international animated series Winx Club and Netflix is likely considering the franchise potential of the property. It has not been well received by critics so far, currently holding only a 35% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but viewers have been more positive giving it a 76% Audience Score. The first season consisted of six episodes and the second with be expanded to eight.
Fate: The Winx Saga follows five young women who become friends while attending the magical boarding school Alfea in the Otherworld. They must learn how to use their magical powers while also dealing with interpersonal relationships as well threats from supernatural beings. It stars Abigail Cowen, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Precious Mustapha, Eliot Salt, and Elisha Applebaum.
