Digital Ratings: The Boys Holds in the Top 10, Away Slips Out

There were only two sci fi/fantasy shows in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for the week of September 21st through 27th. Amazon’s The Boys slipped one slot to Number 6 as that show pulled in an estimated 703 million minutes of viewing for the week. It has already been renewed for a third season. Netflix’s Lucifer slipped six slots to Number 10, looking like it might drop out soon after an extended run in the rankings that started with its fifth season premiere. That one has been renewed for a sixth and final season. Netflix’s Away dropped out of the Top 10 after a three-week run. That show was surprisingly cancelled by the streamer earlier this week.  Amazon’s Utopia premiered on the streaming service on September 25th, but did not rank in the Top 10 in viewership.

The Nielsen Streaming Ratings rank the shows/movies on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and Hulu based on the number of minutes watched during the week by U.S. viewers. The numbers are extrapolated based on the Nielsen sampling of families who have meters monitoring their viewing habits. Following are the genre shows in the Top 10 for the Week of Sep 14-20 which includes the estimated minutes viewed (the prior week rank is in parenthesis).

6 (5) The Boys (Amazon), 703 million minutes
10 (4) Lucifer (Netflix), 636 million

Dropping out from last week:

n/a (6) Away (Netflix)
