The debut of highly-anticipated Star Trek Picard is just around the corner on January 23rd (you can see the preliminary Mid-Season schedule at this link) and it looks like it will be a strong addition to the franchise (it has already been renewed for a second season). As we wait for its arrival, it seems like now would be a good time to look back at the past Trek TV entries and rate which are the best. Seven TV shows have been produced so far (not including the Short Treks mini-eps), starting with the original series in 1966 and going up through Star Trek Discovery which is heading into its third season. Below is a list of all seven shows in order of production and you can vote on the three that you consider the best in the franchise. So cast your vote and pass this along to others to participate as well. I will do a recap of the votes and look at how each of the shows were ranked shortly before the premiere of Star Trek Picard in January (which you can find at this link).

I didnt vote but my opinion its hard to watch SD Star Trek (DS9, Voyager) now in the 4K era. SD is too blurry and it hurts my eyes. I just dont watch em anymore. Watching anything in SD just takes me out of the experience. Due to this it only leaves a few so imma have to say a tie with TNG and TOS at the top of my list and a tie with Enterprise and Discovery at the bottom. The animated series I dont even count it.
It’s a tricky one, when it was at it’s best Next Generation was amazing but it did have a few low points, the first series wasn’t that great. DS9 was was a solid slow burner that just slowly got better and better until it became great.
But hey, what the hell do I know – I like Voyager, at lot 😀
The only good next generation show are ones where Picard acted alone or Riker wasn’t present! He gave shatner a challenge in “most overblown actor” in a Star trek series
I voted TOS, DS9, and TNG, and that’s how I’d rank them too, for me. I always like the darker themes of DS9, but the original series is the *original* series, after all! Early in the voting for sure, but I’m kinda surprised TOS isn’t winning. There wouldn’t be any other series without TOS! 🙂
