Cancellation Watch Breaking News: Raising Dion Renewed by Netflix for Second Season

Netflix announced today that its superhero series Raising Dion, produced by Michael B. Jordan, has been renewed for a second season. The streaming service recently released a list of its most-watched programming in 2019 and this show was ranked Number 10 among the most popular series. It debuted in October 2019 and was well-received by critics and viewers, currently holding an 82% Fresh Rating and 75% Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix has a high renewal rate on its freshmen shows, but its originals typically wrap up around their third or fourth season. The second season will consist of eight episodes.

Raising Dion focuses on a boy who develops superpowers at a young age, along with his mother who must figure out how to raise this unique child. It stars Alisha Wainwright, Ja’Siah Young, Jazmyn Simon, Sammi Haney, and Michael B. Jordan.

There are still several more shows from the 2018-19 season that are awaiting word on their fate such as The Terror, and Mars, and I expect announcements on Fall shows like Watchmen and The Purge relatively soon.
