Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.
This is the first official week of the Fall season for the broadcast networks and things really start ramping up for sci fi and fantasy shows now. On Tuesday, new series Emergence has its debut on ABC. On Thursday, Evil debuts on CBS (see trailer below) and The Good Place returns for its fourth and final season on NBC. On Friday, Syfy’s Van Helsing has its Season 4 premiere, and the horror anthology Creepshow has its debut on the Shudder streaming service. Several Summer shows wrap up this weekend as well, making room for more Fall entries. On Monday, Adult Swim’s Final Space has its season finale, and I am expecting a third season renewal for that one. On Thursday, The CW’s The Outpost has its two-hour finale (I previously misreported an earlier wrap up for this one) and we are still awaiting word on whether it will return for a third season. On Sunday, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead wraps up its fifth season (it has already been renewed for a sixth), and Preacher has its series finale. Also on the night, Pennyworth wraps up its first season on EPIX. There are still plenty more sci fi and fantasy shows hitting the schedule this Fall and you can see the full slate at this link.

Schedule Notes: If a show is listed as On Hiatus, that means that it is taking a break of more than two episodes in a row. If a streaming series is included in the listings after its premiere date, then it releases new episodes once per week on that day as opposed to releasing its entire season at one time.
