Sci fi and fantasy television premieres dates for July 2025

Sci Fi TV Premieres for July 2025: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S3, The Sandman S2, The Institute, and More

Sci Fi TV Premieres: Here is a rundown of all the new and returning sci fi and fantasy TV shows that will have a premiere in July 2025. This information is based on premieres announced at the time of this posting (though check back for updates) and will include trailers if available. Note that premiere dates and times can change with little or no notice.

There are six premieres of sci fi/fantasy television shows currently on the schedule for July 2025. That is down by three from the same month last year, but don’t be surprised if another entry or two joins the list by the end of the month seeing as the streaming services love to put premieres out there with little to no notice. And July does bring some big ones with the return of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for its third season along with Foundation, The Sandman, and Twisted Metal all coming back for new seasons. Among the new entries are the Stephen King series The Institute from MGM+ and the steampunk anime Leviathan from Netflix.  Be sure to stay tuned to CancelledSciFi.com for premiere and scheduling info and also to track the status of your favorite genre entries.

The Sandman Season 2

The Sandman, July 3rd, Netflix: A reunion of the Endless thrusts Lord Morpheus onto a perilous path, where a fateful choice makes him the target of a relentless quest for vengeance. The first six eps of Season 2 will be available on July 3rd, followed by the next five on July 24th and the series finale on July 31st.

Leviathan NEW SERIES

Leviathan, July 10th, Netflix: Set in an alternate steampunk past, an Austrian fugitive prince and a Scottish airman in disguise embark on an unexpected quest to prevent a world war.

Foundation Season 3

Foundation, July 11th, Apple TV+: Set 152 years after the events of Season 2, the Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as “The Mule” whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control. It’s anyone’s guess who will win, who will lose, who will live, and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.

The Institute NEW SERIES

The Institute, July 13th, MGM+: When 12-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped, he awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual abilities. In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as his story and Luke’s are destined to collide.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, July 17th, Paramount+: The series continues to follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Twisted Metal Season 3

Twisted Metal, July 31st, Peacock: Following the revelations in the season one finale, John and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly TWISTED METAL tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.
