Sci Fi TV Highlights: Premieres for Pluto and American Horror Stories S3, a Gargoyles Live-Action Reboot Is in the Works, and More

Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:

Pluto (Netflix): The robotic Europol investigator Gesicht takes the case, but the mystery deepens when he finds no trace of a human at the scene of the crime. As he pursues the truth, Gesicht uncovers the most evil manifestation of hate that history ever seen, one that is bent on bringing destruction to the world. Premieres on Thursday.

American Horror Stories (Hulu): This third season of this American Horror Story spin-off will be a 4-episode #Huluween event with all eps available for streaming on Thursday.

Schedule Notes:

Wrapping up this week is Apple TV+’s Invasion which has its second season finale on Wednesday. There has been no word on a third season of that show yet. Also, Chucky will have its mid-season finale on Syfy on Wednesday and will return with the second half of its strike-impacted third season in 2024.  American Horror Story had its mid-season finale last week and will also return at some point in 2024 with the second half of its current season. On Saturday, Syfy has an encore run of the six-episode first season of the Australian supernatural dramedy Wolf Like Me.  The second season of that show premiered on Peacock last week (and the first season is streaming there as well).  Below are the listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for October and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.

Sci Fi TV News

Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster are working together on a live-action reboot of the 90s animated series Gargoyles. The new series Concordia from Frank Doelger (Game of Thrones, The Swarm) had its premiere at Mipcom this last week.  There is no word on when that utopian/dystopian series will make it to streaming or the linear networks, but it should draw some interest.  You can read more about it at this link . . . Amazon has given a second season renewal to its The Boys spin-off series Gen V after that one has performed well in its first few weeks of streaming.
