Gen V Has Been Renewed for a Second Season by Amazon

Coming as no surprise, Amazon has given the renewal nod to its The Boys spin-off series Gen V. The viewership numbers for that one from Nielsen are not available yet because that tracking service runs on a one-month lag reporting those stats.  But according to Variety, it is the Number 1 streaming original on Prime Video in over 130 countries (presumably the U.S. is one of those). And as part of The Boys franchise, the streamer has an incentive to keep the spin-off going in order to bolster the property. Showrunner Michele Fazekas and executive producer Eric Kripke had the following to say about the renewal:

We couldn’t be happier to make a second season of Gen V. These are characters and stories we’ve grown to love, and we are thrilled to know people feel the same! The writers are already working on the new season—sophomore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you’ve come to expect from the show.

The first season will wrap up on November 3rd and it could be a while before the second makes it to streaming seeing as the actors’ strike is currently going on. Expect this one to make its return in early 2025 if not later.

With this announcement, that brings the Cancellation/Renewal Score for the current season to 11 renewals (39% of shows tracked) vs. 3 cancelled and ending shows (11%). You can see the breakdown of the numbers and the full list of shows at our Cancellation Watch Page.

Gen V takes place at Godolkin University, a college for superheroes, where a group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school. They must then decide if they are going to be the heroes or villains of their stories. It stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, and London Thor.
