Sci Fi TV Highlights: Premieres for Ahsoka and Invasion S2, Finales for Nancy Drew and Riverdale

A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week


Ahsoka (Disney+): Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy. Premieres on Tuesday.



Invasion (Apple TV+): The action-packed second season of “Invasion” picks up just months later with the aliens escalating their attacks in an all out war against the humans. Season 2 Premieres on Wednesday.

Schedule Notes:

Ahsoka was originally set to premiere on Wednesday August 23rd, but that was bumped up to Tuesday August 22nd and the episodes will release in the evenings at 9 PM EST. The fourth season of Hulu’s Solar Opposites arrived last week with little notice and all episodes are available for streaming. That show has also been renewed for a fifth season. Wrapping up this week are The CW’s Nancy Drew and Riverdale which will air their series finales on Wednesday. #SaveWarriorNun: Fans are trying to save Warrior Nun from cancellation.

The Warrior Nun revival is moving forward and executive producer Dean English has announced that three movies are in the works . . . Amazon has cancelled The Peripheral, reversing its previous renewal for that apocalyptic series . . . The third season of Syfy’s Chucky and the second season of Surrealestate have received Fall 2023 premiere dates.  They will bow on October 3rd at 9 PM EST and 10 PM EST respectively.  You can see the trailer for the latter below . . . Disney+ has announced December 20th as the premiere date for Percy Jackson and the Olympians and you can see the teaser for that at this link . . . The animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has received a November 17th premiere date on Netflix, and you can see the trailer for that at this link.

  1. Solar Opposites season 4 is getting annihilated by review bombing on a number of websites. I didn’t read any of the actual text, but I think it’s Justin Roiland fanboys.
