Cancellation Watch: Manifest Returns to Netflix Top 10, Fear The Walking Dead Slips, and More

Cancellation Watch: Ratings results and status updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services as well as breaking news on the currently airing, returning, and upcoming genre entries.

Netflix Top 10

Netflix released the final ten episodes of Manifest Season 4 the week of May 29th to June 4th and the show returned to that streamer’s Top 10. It placed at the Number 2 slot with 39.4 million hours watched. That is lower viewership than the first week of Season 4 Part 1, but still a pretty strong performance for a Netflix original. Black Knight dropped out of the Top 10 for Non-English Language shows which gives it the dreaded three-week run that has resulted in the cancellation of other shows. This is a Korean series and likely less expensive, though, so it may still have a chance for a second season. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Netflix Top 10 for the Week of May-29 to Jun-4

English Language Shows
2 (n/a) Manifest: Season 4 39.4 Million Hours, Weeks in the Chart: 8

Non-English Language Shows
(n/a) No Genre Entries 0.0 Million Hours, Weeks in the Chart: 29

Linear Ratings Results of Interest:

On Sunday, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead ticked down to a 0.07 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 547K total viewers.  That show is in its final season, but the all-time low viewership numbers it is pulling do not bode well for spin-offs like the upcoming TWD: Dead City.  Over on TNT, The Lazarus Project pulled a 0.06 rating with 475K total viewers for its premiere.  That is an acquisition from Sky Max in Britain and has already been renewed for a second season.

On Wednesday, The CW’s Nancy Drew had a good showing as it pulled a 0.09 rating with 465K total viewers, improving on its fourth season premiere last week. That one is currently in its final year.

On Tuesday, The CW’s Gotham Knights slipped to a 0.04 rating 360K total viewers and the network just announced its cancellation. Leading into that, Superman & Lois had a 0.08 rating with 662K total viewers and it will be returning for a fourth season.

On Monday of last week, The CW’s acquired series The Rising improved from its debut and pulled a 0.06 rating with 368K total viewers. This one is an acquisition from Sky Max and it has already been cancelled in its home country, so it is unlikely these numbers will lead to The CW reviving the show for a second season.
