FOX Renews Krapoplois for a Third Season, and Someday People Will Get to Watch the Show

FOX has given a third season renewal to its animated fantasy comedy Krapopolis which comes from Rick & Morty co-creator Dan Harmon. But where can you watch the first and second seasons you ask? You can’t! They haven’t aired yet.

Krapopolis began with a straight-to-series order in 2020 and was originally set to premiere with a sneak peak episode in November 2022 followed by a regular slot on the schedule starting in 2023. That was shifted and the premiere was set for May 2023. Around the same time, the show was given a second-season renewal, though the announcement was not widely covered. Now the show has been shifted to the 2023-24 season and the renewal has been extended through its third season. It is unclear what the delay is in airing the animated comedy, but apparently FOX feels strong enough about the show to guarantee it a slot on the schedule for the next three years. That network has done well with animated comedies, and those are less impacted by things like the pandemic.  And network’s President of Scripted Programming Michael Thorn believes the show could deliver the next iconic character along the lines of Homer Simpson, Bob Belcher, and Peter Griffin.  Plus, Dan Harmon has made a name for himself with Rick & Morty and Community, so apparently FOX wants to maintain its relationship with the creator. At this point, expect Krapopolis to premiere at some point in Fall 2023.

The show was part of the 2022-23 season, but it will be getting shifted to next season so it no longer counts in this year’s numbers. The Cancellation/Renewal Score currently stands at 24 renewal (35% of shows tracked) vs. 26 cancelled and ending (38%). Krapopolis is set in a mythical ancient Greece-inspired city called Krapopolis, and it follows the flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters trying to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. The voice cast includes Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Hannah Waddingham, Pam Murphy, and Duncan Trussell.
