AMC+ Has Cancelled Moonhaven After One Season, Reversing Its Previous Renewal Decision

Corporate shenanigans have taken down yet another promising sci fi TV series. AMC’s streaming arm AMC Networks just announced that CEO Christina Spade would be stepping down and that the company would be going through extensive cost-cutting measures. As part of that, the second season of the previously renewed Moonhaven has been axed as part of what is referred to as “strategic programming assessments”. Cutting through the BS, AMC is the latest entertainment venue feeling the pain of the Peak TV expansion years and now it will start slashing its television shows. Moonhaven had previously been touted as a big success for AMC’s streaming arm AMC+ as its first season became the most-watched exclusive original on the service. But that doesn’t seem to matter anymore now that they are in cost-cutting mode and the show will not be continuing to a second season as previously announced. It is possible that more shows could follow in the coming weeks such as AMC+’s animated, cyberpunk series Pantheon which has not garnered much attention as well as the low-rated AMC TWD anthology Tales of the Walking Dead. There is no word at this point on whether Moonhaven will get shopped around, but that is a possibility seeing as it built up a notable audience for a streaming original. Fans should definitely take to the social networks with a Call to Action to save the series.

Moonhaven takes place on a Utopian colony on the surface of the Moon that may be essential to the survival of the human race.  But when one Earth-person is accused of a crime, a darker side to this paradise is revealed.  It stars Emma McDonald, Dominic Monaghan, Amara Karan, Ayelet Zurer, Joe Manganiello, and Kadeem Hardison.
