Call to Action: Fans Are Fighting to Save Raised by Wolves, Legends of Tomorrow, Legacies, and More

Season end has brought the cancellation of several fan-favorite sci fi/fantasy entries this year, and that has led to multiple campaigns to get these shows uncancelled or to move them to a new venue.  Below is a look at several of the active campaigns with the information on how to participate and the likelihood that the fan efforts will help save the shows.  If you are running any of these campaigns and have additional info, please include that in the comments.  And if you are running a campaign for another show, let us know about that as well.  And for more info on the best ways to help a cancelled or struggling show, see our Call to Action page.

Raised by Wolves (HBO Max, Cancelled after 2 Seasons): The cancellation announcement for this show just came on Friday and the fans immediately took up the Call to Action, spurred on by series co-star Abubakar Salim who made a plea prior to the show getting the ax.  A website has already been set up to focus on campaign efforts and daily tweet-storms are aiming at different venues to convince them to pick up the show for a third season and beyond using the hashtag #RenewRaisedByWolves.  There is also an online petition which has over 6.5K signatures as of this writing.  My understanding is that the show is owned by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions, though HBO Max likely holds the streaming rights for at least a year or so.  But it is possible that another streaming service could work out the deal for the exclusive rights, and if fans keep this show trending then other buyers should certainly have an interest in picking it up.

Legends of Tomorrow (CW, Cancelled after 7 Seasons): This was one of several shows cancelled when The CW went into slash and burn mode this year ahead of a potential sale.  Fans had already been stumping for it at the behest of its writers, and those efforts continued after the cancellation.  They have set up a main directory site for the campaign along with a Twitter page and Instagram Page.  There is an online petition which is approaching 30K signatures as of this writing, and they have raised money to do things like posting a billboard in downtown New York City and flying a banner over Warner Bros. studios.  The best chance for this show is to get a final season on The CW.  Netflix holds the streaming rights and I am thinking that Warner Bros. will not want to do a new season with that streamer since the show will almost certainly move to HBO Max (which is owned by The WB) at some point.  And a new season at HBO Max is probably not in the cards because the Netflix streaming deal may preclude that.  Thus the reason that fans should be targeting The CW at this point with hopes for a final season.

Legacies (CW, Cancelled after 4 Seasons): This is another casualty of The CW’s schedule purge, and the cancellation of this one seemed rather odd because one more season would get it to a syndication-friendly count of episodes (where shows really make money).  Fans have been keeping the show trending with the hashtags #SaveLegacies and #RenewLegacies and the online petition is just short of 35K as of this writing.  There are also efforts to raise money to fund a billboard to bring attention to the show.  This property is joint-owned by CBS and Warner Bros. and Netflix has the streaming rights to prior seasons.  So like Legends of Tomorrow, the best bet is to continue to lobby The CW for a final season as it would certainly make good financial sense for them to bring it back for at least one more year.

Batwoman (CW, Cancelled after 3 Seasons): Yet another show cut down by The CW this season, fans started lobbying for it before the cancellation and have continued their efforts in hopes of keeping it going.  They have been getting the show trending with the hashtags #SaveBatwoman and #HBOMaxSaveBatwoman and there is a campaign page on Twitter as well as an online petition (2.6K signatures as of this writing).  They have already put up billboards to bring attention to the show, and more efforts are in the works.  They are wisely targeting HBO Max because that streamer holds the rights to past seasons and it seems like a no-brainer to continue the show (and eventually the Arrow-verse) on that venue.
