Raised by Wolves Has Been Cancelled by HBO Max, But It Is Getting Shopped Around

HBO Max’s sci fi series Raised by Wolves wrapped up its second season in March and fans have been waiting to hear word on a third year.  The show will be coming to an end on HBO Max, but the actor that plays Father–Abubakar Salim–has indicated it could move to a new venue.  He put a post on the sub-Reddit r/RaisedByWolves claiming that because of the Warner Bros. merger with Discovery the show will not be continuing on HBO Max:

It’s not surprising, especially after the news of these mergers and what is happening at Warner, that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished.

And unfortunately, one of those shows is Raised by Wolves.

Nothing has been shared yet. But there is a reason for that. An important one. And one which I’m here to share with you now. There is hope.

You see, we’re in a unique position: we have a fully fleshed out and planned storyline, a Goliath of a production team behind us, incredible reception from critics and reviewers alike, and most crucially, a community base that is so strong internationally, it can not be ignored.

The reason the cancellation hasn’t been announced is because there’s still a chance the story can continue, and be finished at a new home.

He goes on to indicate that the show is currently being shopped around and asks for help from fans to lobby for a third season by getting it trending on social media with the hashtag #RenewRaisedByWolves.  We have already seen shows like The Expanse, Lucifer, and Manifest saved by fan efforts and there is currently a strong push for another season of Legends of Tomorrow.

Raised by Wolves appears to be owned by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free productions, so it is not necessarily tied to HBO Max.  But the streamer likely has rights to the property for a specified period of time, so that could muddy things up.  But if fans make enough noise, it is possible this show could have a chance to wrap up its story.  The official cancellation announcement came shortly after Salim put up his post, so now is the time for a Call to Action from fans to assure that it does not become yet another truncated sci fi TV show.  (Thanks to ScreenRant for bringing this to our attention)

  1. To quote Jack Bauer: Dammit!

I really hope this show finds a way to survive – one of the most unique and interesting shows to come out in a long time.

  2. Oh well, this sucks! This is a really good unique sci-fi series! Let’s hope another carrier will pick it up and conclude the story!
