Sci Fi TV Highlights This Week: Premieres for For All Mankind S3, Ms. Marvel, Evil S3, and More

Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Shows Premiering This Week

For All Mankind (Season 3 premieres June 10th on Apple TV+): The propulsive new season of the alternate-reality series takes viewers to a new decade, moving into the early ‘90s with a high-octane race to a new planetary frontier: MARS. The Red Planet becomes the new front in the Space Race not only for the U.S. and the Soviet Union, but also an unexpected new entrant with a lot to prove and even more at stake. Our characters find themselves going head-to-head as their ambitions for Mars come into conflict and their loyalties are tested, creating a pressure cooker that builds to a climactic conclusion. The first episode of the season premieres Friday and the show will release one episode per week after that.

Ms. Marvel (Premieres June 8th on Disney+): Ms. Marvel, launching on Disney+ in Summer 2022, is a new series that introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right? The first episode premieres Wednesday and the show will release one episode per week after that.

Evil (Season 3 premieres June 12th on Paramount+): EVIL is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. The series focuses on a skeptical female psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter as they investigate the Church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and hauntings. Their job is to assess if there is a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work. The first episode of the season premieres Sunday and the show will release one episode per week after that.

Schedule Notes

Also premiering this week is the vampire series First Kill on Netflix and the fourth and final season of Roswell New Mexico (that show was one of many sent to the Network Executioner by The CW in a pre-sale purge).  On Friday, Charmed will have its series finale on The CW (also part of that purge), and on Thursday Young Justice will release its season finale on HBO Max.  There has been no word on a fifth season of that latter series yet.
