Ratings Results of Interest:
On Sunday Doctor Who had its season 13 premiere on BBC America and posted a 0.08 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 339 total viewers. That marks a series low for viewership in the U.S., though the drop in the linear ratings is a trend we continue to see across most shows on the broadcast networks and especially the cable channels. The renewal/cancellation decisions for this one are driven more by viewership in Britain, though the numbers have been down there as well. Currently Jodie Whittaker plans on departing from the show after completing three specials that will air in 2022 and another actor is expected to replace her at that point. But a final decision has not been made on that yet.
On AMC on Sunday, the Walking Dexit continued. Fear the Walking Dead slipped to a 0.15 rating in the demo with 871K total viewers while The Walking Dead: World Beyond dropped to a 0.09 rating with 510K total viewers, both of which were low points for the shows. The later show is in the final year of its planned two-season run while FtWD could be wrapping up as soon as its current season. Over on Syfy on Friday, Day of the Dead did not place in the Top 150 cable shows for the night. If that one gets shifted out of Prime Time, which I am expecting, then consider it dead. On Thursday on CBS, Ghosts improved to a 0.57 rating with 5.7 million total viewers. It has received a full-season pickup and could be on track to a second season renewal. On FX, What We Do in the Shadows improved to a 0.15 rating with 375K total viewers for its season finale. That one has already been renewed for a fourth year.
