Ratings Results of Interest:

On Monday, The CW’s reboot of The 4400 had its debut and pulled a 0.10 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 535K total viewers.  Those are decent numbers for that network these days, though not spectacular.  The CW pays more attention to digital viewing than the other broadcast nets, and those numbers (which the network does not usually share) tend to drive renewal/cancellation decisions.  Also, The CW tends to give a blanket renewal to all of its Fall shows no matter the ratings, so at this point, 4400 has a decent chance of surviving to a second season because of the network it airs on.

On Tuesday, NBC’s La Brea saw its numbers improve from last week, posting a 0.59 rating in the demo with 5.2 million total viewers. That show is currently in the Top 20 among broadcast network shows and looks to be off to a good start. Over on Syfy on Tuesday, Chucky improved slightly to a 0.15 rating with 330 viewers while its simulcast on USA had a 0.11 score with 352K total viewers. That show appears to be on track for a second season renewal. On Wednesday, The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow managed just a 0.07 rating with 511K total viewers for its 100th episode despite the fact that it brought back quite a number of characters from past seasons. The full ratings for the week will be available in the Tuesday Sci Fi TV Update post.

Digital Ratings:

Manifest slipped to Number 7 in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for acquired shows for the week of Spetmeber 27th to October 3rd. After eighteen weeks in the Top 10 once its encore run on Netflix began, this one may be on the way out. But it did slip before and then returned to the Number 1 slot for four straight weeks, so don’t count it out just yet. In the Top 10 for originals, Lucifer slipped to the Number 3 slot with 536 million minutes of viewing. And Disney+’s What If . . . ? crept back into the rankings at Number 10 with 243 million minutes of viewing. The quasi-dystopian series Squid Game remained at Number 1 in its second week and improved to 3.3 billion minutes of viewing, the highest viewership tracked in these rankings so far. That one might not quite count as sci fi, but may be of interest to genre fans. In the Top 10 for movies. the Netflix monster flick No One Gets Out Alive entered at Number 10 with 152 million minutes of vieweing. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy entries on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):
