Ratings Results of Interest:
On Sunday, AMC’s The Walking Dead: World Beyond returned for its second season and posted a 0.20 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 753K total viewers. That is down from its first season numbers, but not by too much. That show was designed for a two-season run, and I theorize that if its ratings had been better it might have continued beyond that, but AMC is sticking with the limited run for this one. In the lead-in hour, parent series The Walking Dead improved from the prior week’s series low to a 0.47 rating with 1.9 million total viewers. That show is in its final season.
On Thursday, The CW’s The Outpost slipped to a low point for its penultimate episode pulling only a 0.03 rating with 318K total viewers. The series finale for that show airs on Thursday. Pretty much all of The CW’s shows were down last week, likely due to the regular season kicking off on the Big Four broadcast networks. But the fifth place net pays more attention to the digital ratings, so the drop in numbers should not be a concern. Over on FX on Wednesday, American Horror Story slipped to a 0.26 score with 687K total viewers, but that one has already been renewed through its thirteenth season. HBO Max has released the first teaser for its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. That show takes place 200 years before the events of GOT and follows the rise of House Targaryen. It premieres in 2022 and you can see the teaser here . . . HBO Max also released a first look at the upcoming Peacemaker series starring John Cena which is a spin-off from The Suicide Squad.
