Loki Will Continue for a Second Season on Disney+

Coming as no surprise, Disney+ has officially announced a second season of its MCU series Loki. There were already rumors that a second season was in the works, and now the streamer has confirmed that during the end credits of the Season 1 finale: “Loki will return in season 2″. The first episode of the series debuted at Number 3 in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 with 731 million minutes of viewing, a high point for a Disney+ series. The show has also been well-received by critics and viewers, currently holding a 92% Fresh Rating and 87% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Series star Tom Hiddleston had the following to say about continuing on with the character he has made famous: “I have learned, at this point, having said goodbye to the character more than twice, two and a half times maybe, to make no assumptions”. An episode count for the second season has not been announced, but expect it to be in the six-to-eight ep range and the show will likely return at some point in 2022.

Loki follows the title character and takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame when the god of mischief escapes capture using the Tesseract. His freedom is short-lived, though, as he is arrested by the Time Variance Authority for crimes against the “Sacred Timeline”. It stars Tom Hiddleston, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, and Owen Wilson and it is part of Phase Four of the MCU.
