Breaking News: Amazon Renews Invincible for 2nd and 3rd Season

Amazon’s animated superhero series Invincible has proven itself to be a contender in its first season and has earned a renewal from the streamer through its third season. The show did not land in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for its premiere week but edged in at the Number 10 slot during its second week. Co-Head of Television at Amazon Studios Vernon Sanders had the following to say about the show:

Invincible is a crowning example of how a fresh and edgy approach to the superhero genre can resonate with audiences around the globe and we’re so glad that Invincible, one of our earliest investments in the adult animation genre, has accomplished just that. Robert’s no-holds-barred storytelling coupled with a first-class voice cast delivered on fans’ wildest expectations and we’re thrilled to be giving them more Invincible.

Invincible released its first three episodes the week of its premiere and has been putting out an episode per week since then with the finale dropping on Friday. It is one of the few Amazon originals that have made it into the Nielsen Streaming chart since those measurements started up last August. The second season of the show will likely be targetting an early 2022 premiere.

Invincible focuses on the titular hero who is the son of the powerful superhero Omni-Man. But as he starts up his career as a crime fighter, he learns that his father has some dark secrets in his past. The voice cast includes Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J. K. Simmons, Zachary Quinto, and Gillian Jacobs and it is based on the long-running comic of the same name by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
