Breaking News: Apple TV+ Has Renewed For All Mankind for a Third Season

Apple TV+ has given a third season renewal to its alternate-history space-race series For All Mankind ahead of its second season premiere which is currently scheduled for February 19th. That show premiered in November 2019 and had already been renewed for a second season in advance. Apple TV+ has not released viewership numbers for its originals, but measurement company Parrot Analytics has collected stats that indicate that For All Mankind is one of the streamer’s more popular shows. So far, the service has supported its scripted originals, also handing out renewals to genre entries See and Servant in advance of their premieres. The one Apple TV+ series that has not received a renewal yet is Amazing Stories, though that one could still come back for a second season. Filming will begin on the third season of For All Mankind in Spring and it will debut on the service either late 2021 or early 2022.  The second season of Servant will premiere on January 15th.  The second season of See has not received a premiere date yet.

For All Mankind takes place in an alternate history where the Russians are the first to land a man on the Moon. It follows the United States space program from that point as the Americans try to catch up with the accomplishments of the Soviets and prove that they are a contender in the race to explore and colonize the solar system.  It stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Wrenn Schmidt, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, and Jodi Balfour and was created by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar: Galactica, Outlander).  This is a show that I count as recommended sci fi TV, and you can read more about it at this link.

We are still waiting to hear word on Apple TV+’s Amazing Stories as well as other shows like Amazon’s Tales from the Loop, HBO’s Lovecraft Country, and AMC’s Dispatches from Elsewhere, so stay tuned for more announcements.
