Series Profile: The Flash Races Back for Its Sixth Season

What Is It?

The Flash follows crime-scene investigator Barry Allen who has received the power of superspeed after an accident at a particle accelorator. Taking on the guise of The Flash, he teams up with other heroes to protect Central City and the world from threats presented by evil meta-humans and other dire menaces. Following is the synopsis for the Season 6 premiere:

While Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) deal with the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Nora, the team faces their greatest threat yet — one that threatens to destroy all of Central City. Meanwhile, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) has a brush with death that results in an unexpected new dynamic that will change her relationship with Caitlin forever.

The Flash will also be part of this year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event which will bring major changes to the Arrow-verse.  More on that at this link.

Status

The Flash has been the top-rated show on The CW the last few years and will be leading the Arrow-verse shows with Arrow wrapping up this season (do they changed the name to the Flash-verse?). Even though the ratings have continued to drop each year, that is a common trend we are seeing across all of the linear channels. Expect this show to race into a seventh season and possibly beyond. You can keep up with the ratings results and further status updates during the season at the show’s page on this site.
