Sci Fi TV Listings for the Week of October 1st: Premieres for The Man in the High Castle S3, Doctor Who S11, Star Trek: Short Treks, and More

Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.

The Fall season is really ramping up now as this week brings us eight premieres, four of which occur on Friday.  The first premiere of the week will be on Thursday as Star Treks: Short Treks debuts its first installment on CBS All Access.  You can see the rundown of all four of the shorts planned for this year at this link.  On Friday, Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle finally returns (after almost two years) for its third season.  All ten episodes will be available for streaming that day.  Over on Hulu the horror anthology series Into the Dark gets its start and that one will release a movie-length episode once per month.  Also on Friday, two of Syfy’s Fall entries hit the schedule as Van Helsing returns for its third season and Z Nation returns for its fifth season.

On Sunday, Doctor Who Season 11, with Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, has its premiere, though at a rather odd time.  The BBC is simulcasting the episode at the same time worldwide, so it will have its premiere in the States on BBC America at 1:45 PM EST.  That network will rebroadcast the premiere at 8 PM EST as well.  Also on Sunday, AMC’s The Walking Dead returns for its ninth season following an hour long preview special that starts at 8 PM EST.  And on the Disney Channel, the new animated series Star Wars: Resistance kicks off its first season at 10 PM EST.
Wrapping up this week is The CW’s The Outpost which has its season finale on Tuesday (no word yet about a second season for that one).  You can see the full Fall schedule at this link, and for a rundown of all the shows check out our Fall Sci Fi TV Preview.

Schedule Notes: If a show is listed as On Hiatus, that means that it is taking a break of more than two episodes in a row. If a streaming series is included in the listings after its premiere date, then it releases new episodes once per week on that day as opposed to releasing its entire season at one time.
