Cancellation Watch: For All Mankind Preps for a Fifth Season, She-Hulk Appears to Be Done, and More

Cancellation Watch: Status updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services as well as breaking news on the currently airing, returning, and upcoming genre entries.

Status Updates

For all Mankind (Apple TV+, Status: Renewal Possible): This alternate history space exploration series wrapped up its fourth season with another ten-year time jump (as is typical for the finale) and the creative team has plans for a fifth season (and more). It has not made it into the Nielsen Streaming Rankings so far in its fourth year, but it continues to perform well for the streamer and it is considered one of their prestige originals. I would expect at least one more season for the show as I don’t believe the streamer will outright cancel the series. Whether it continues beyond that remains to be seen.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV+, Status: Renewal Possible): This spin-off from the Legendary Monsterverse has not appeared in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings so far in its first season, but according to Parrot Analytics it has performed well compared to other streaming shows. The first season ended with plenty more story to tell, and this show will connect to upcoming Monsterverse movies, so I would say that it has a decent chance of returning for a second year seeing as Apple TV+ has been good at supporting its originals.

She-Hulk (Disney+, Status: Ended): It has been one-and-a-half years since this superhero series premiered on Disney+ and there has been no word on a second season. The streamer billed it as a “limited series” (as it does with most of its shows now), and I have been working upon the assumption that it had ended. Series star Tatiana Maslany appears to have confirmed that recently, claiming that she does not expect to be back for a second year stating that “I think we blew our budget”. The She-Hulk character will almost certainly show up in some of the upcoming MCU movies, but don’t expect more from the series any time soon.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Disney+, Status: Renewal Possible): We have not seen Nielsen numbers for this fantasy series yet, but according to Deadline, the five episodes released so far have pulled in more than 26 million views over the first three weeks. Since this is based on the Rick Riordan books, it is definitely built for a multi-season run, and at this point a second season looks like a good bet.
