Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:


The Swarm (CW): Across the globe, strange happenings, borne out of the oceans, are mystifying and imperiling the world’s population. A group of scientists undertakes a terrifying mission to the depths of the Arctic Ocean to confront a deadly intelligent life force bent on human extinction. Premieres Tuesday at 9 PM EST.

Schedule Notes:

The Season 2 finale for Foundation releases on Friday on Apple TV+. There has been no word on a third-season renewal for that show yet. Also on Friday, AMC will air an encore run of the premiere of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon starting at 9 PM EST. On Thursday, MAX’s Harley Quinn will wrap up its fourth season and it is still waiting for word on a fifth-year renewal. CBS Studios has launched the short-form series Star Trek: Very Short Treks as part of the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Animated series. These will include some well-known Trek actors providing the voices and the first short “To Skin a Cat” is streaming on YouTube . . . The Apple TV+ Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has received a November 17th release date and you can see the trailer below . . . The live-action Star Wars Disney+ series Skeleton Crew has been delayed again with its premiere now moved to an unspecified date in 2024.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV+): Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. Premieres November 17th.
