Showtime has decided not to go forward with the television adaptation of Gattaca which was being helmed by Homeland co-creators Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. That property will be shopped around to other venues . . . Roland Emmerich is working on a new space opera franchise to be named Space Nation. It will start with an MMORPG and will be followed by a television series and animated shorts.

There are no premieres for sci fi and fantasy shows this week, but things will start to pick up during the second half of the month, starting with Foundation Season 2 and What We Do in the Shadows Season 5 next week.

Futurama (Hulu): While delivering pizza on New Year’s Eve 1999, Philip J. Fry is accidentally cryonically frozen and thawed out one thousand years into the future. Season 8 premieres July 24th.
