Cancellation Watch: Ratings results and status updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services as well as breaking news on the currently airing, returning, and upcoming genre entries.

Linear Ratings Results of Interest:
On Monday of last week, the British supernatural drama The Rising had its premiere on The CW and posted a 0.05 rating with 421K total viewers. Those are decent numbers for a CW Summer entry, but it is unlikely a good run in the States will get this show a second season. It was already cancelled by its original network Sky Max and is just acting as schedule filler for The CW at this point.
On Tuesday, Superman & Lois improved to a 0.12 rating in the demo with 657K total viewers while Gotham Knights improved to a 0.08 rating with 391K total viewers. Both of those shows are still waiting to hear word on their fates.
On Wednesday, the fourth and final season of Nancy Drew premiered on The CW and pulled a 0.05 rating with 394K total viewers. Leading out from that, Riverdale improved to its best numbers this season with a 0.08 score and 277K total viewers. That one is also in its final season.
On Sunday, Fear the Walking Dead improved to a 0.08 score with 461K total viewers as it airs out its final season.

Nielsen Streaming Rankings
Netflix’s Sweet Tooth held at the Number 3 slot in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for originals for the week of May 1st to 7th. It also crossed one billion minutes of viewing in its second week in the charts following its Season 2 premiere. That one has been renewed for a third and final year. Disney+’s The Mandalorian slipped to Number 9 with 319 million minutes of viewing and the fourth season of that show is in the works. Star Wars: Visions (Disney+) and Silo (Apple TV+) had their premieres that week but did not make it into the rankings. Amazon’s Citadel premiered the prior week and still has not made it into the Top 10. Netflix Top 10
The week of May 22nd to 28th was a slow one in the Netflix Top 10 with only one genre entry in the charts. Black Knight slipped to Number 5 in the Top 10 for Non-English Language shows with 13 million hours of viewing, but that one could be on track for a second season. There were no renewals or cancellations this past week as The CW continues to drag its heels about making a decision on Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights. The score remains at 34 cancelled and ending sci fi and fantasy shows (40% of the shows tracked) vs. 35 renewed (41%).
