Digital Ratings: Wednesday Has Strong Start, Warrior Nun Is Still Hanging On, and More

Digital Ratings: Viewership results for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the streaming services. See our Cancellation Watch posts for the linear ratings from the broadcast networks and cable shows.

I have decided to keep the Digital Ratings post separate this week contrary to what I said in the Tuesday Cancellation Watch post, though I may end up merging them later this month if there is less activity to report.

Netflix Top 10:

Netflix’s Addams’ Family reboot Wednesday got off to a strong start by placing at Number 1 in that streamer’s Top 10 for the week of November 21st to 27th. It pulled in a record-setting 341 million hours of viewing and if cancellation-happy Netflix decides to ax this one they may find themselves afoul of Uncle Fester’s tricks. 1899 (Renewal Possible) improved its viewership to 88 million in its second week but it couldn’t rise above the Number 2 slot with Wednesday far outpacing it in viewership. Manifest Season 4 slipped to Number 5 with 23 million hours viewed and the second half of its final season will land at some point in 2023. Warrior Nun (Renewal Possible) slipped to Number 9 with 12 million hours watched in the third week of its second season and fans of that show will need to make some noise on the social networks to bring attention to the show and keep it in the charts. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Netflix Top 10 for the Week of Nov-21 to Nov-27

Nielsen Streaming Top 10

Netflix’s Manifest (Final Season) had its debut in the Nielsen Streaming Ranking for originals for the week of October 31st to November 6th, and it placed at Number 1 with an estimated 1.4 billion minutes watched. Netflix’s Cabinet of Curiosities (Renewal Possible) slipped to Number 4 in its second week with 798 billion minutes and it will likely slip further next week seeing how it dropped off the Netflix charts after three weeks. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale (Renewed) slipped to Number 10 in the second to last week of its fifth season with 441 million minutes viewed while Disney+’s Andor dropped out of the rankings. The Dragon Prince (Netflix) and Titans (HBO Max) both had their fourth season premieres that week but neither made it into the Top 10.

In the rankings for acquired shows, HBO’s House of the Dragon (Renewed) slipped out of the Top 10 two weeks after wrapping up its first season. Game of Thrones re-entered the rankings as apparently people decided to catch up on that one after HotD ended. (Anybody want to warn unsuspecting viewers how GoT will end?) Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the Week of Oct-24 to Oct-30

Streaming Originals
1 (n/a) Manifest (Netflix) 1.4 Billion Minutes
4 (2) Cabinet of Curiosities (Netflix) 798 Million Minutes
10 (7) The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) 441 Million Minutes
