Digital Ratings: The Imperfects Enters the Netflix Top 10, The Sandman Holds at Number 1 in the Nielsen Rankings, and More

With the regular season now back upon us, I will be breaking out the Digital Ratings into their own column again which should be posted each Friday (if Nielsen keeps on schedule with their numbers). On Tuesdays, I will be reporting the linear ratings from the past week and status updates of note.

Netflix Top 10:

Netflix’s new sci fi/horror series The Imperfects landed at the Number 3 slot in the Top 10 for English Language shows for the week of September 5th to 11th. That show had its premiere on a Thursday and pulled in 24 million hours of viewing which could have it on track for a second season. The Sandman slipped to Number 5 in its sixth week with 20 million hours viewed and there is still no word on a second season of that show. Stranger Things slipped to Number 8 with 17 million hours viewed and it will be returning next year for its fifth and final season. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):
Netflix Top 10 for the Week of Sep-5 to Sep-11

English Language Shows
3 (n/a) The Imperfects 24.1 Million Hours
5 (3) The Sandman 19.6 Million Hours
8 (5) Stranger Things: Season 4 16.6 Million Hours
10 (7) Manifest: Season 1 12.4 Million Hours

Non-English Language Shows

Nielsen Streaming Top 10

Netflix’s The Sandman held on to the Number 1 spot in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for originals for the week of August 15th to 21st. It did slip under one billion minutes of viewing for the first time with an estimated 946 million, but those should still count as strong numbers. Stranger Things held at Number 2 with 919 million minutes viewed while Locke & Key held at Number 4 with 630 million minutes. The latter show is in its final season. She-Hulk had its debut on Disney+ that week, but did not make it into the Nielsen Top 10.  I would expect to see it enter the charts in the coming weeks, though. In the rankings for acquired shows, Supernatural made a return after several weeks off the charts. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the Week of Aug-15 to Aug-21

Streaming Originals
1 (1) The Sandman (Netflix) 946 Million Minutes
2 (2) Stranger Things (Netflix) 919 Billion Minutes
4 (4) Locke & Key (Netflix) 630 Million Minutes
