Paramount+ wants to keep Evil streaming as it has renewed the supernatural drama for a fourth season. The third season premiered June 12th, and interest in the show is apparently strong according to a statement from the streamer’s president of original scripted series Nicole Clemens:
Evil continues to expand its fanbase of both critics and viewers alike. Season three currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and it is a consistent top five most-watched original series and acquisition driver for the service. We couldn’t be more excited to be terrified by what Robert and Michelle create for season four with our outstanding cast bringing it to life.
The show premiered on CBS in the 2019-20 season where it had only moderate ratings success. It was not a particularly good fit in a line-up consisting mostly of by-the-numbers procedurals and sitcoms, and it was moved to that network’s streaming partner where it has since thrived. The third season will continue to release new episodes until August and the fourth season should premiere in Summer 2023.
Evil follows a skeptical forensic psychologist who teams up with a Catholic seminarian and a technology contractor to investigate purported supernatural incidents. It stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, Kurt Fuller, and Michael Emerson.
