Nielsen Streaming Top 10
Amazon’s sci fi series Night Sky made it into the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for originals for the week of May 16th to 22nd. That show had its debut that week and slipped into the lower rungs of the chart at Number 9 with an estimated 352 minutes of viewing. There has been no word on a second season of that one yet. Stranger Things also made it into the Nielsen Top 10 the week prior to its fourth season debut. Cumulative viewing for prior seasons ranked at Number 7 with 378 million minutes watched. Love Death + Robots had its third debut season that week but did not make it into the Top 10. Both Disney+’s Moon Knight and Amazon’s Outer Range dropped out from the prior week. Netflix Top 10:
Stranger Things continued to dominate the Netflix English Language Top 10 for the week of June 6th to 12th, with the fourth season remaining at Number 1 with 159 million hours viewed and the prior three seasons in the next three slots. But one additional Netflix original made it into the Top 10 that week as the vampire drama First Kill landed at Number 7 for its debut week with 30 million hours viewed. If it holds in the charts for a few weeks, it could get a second season renewal. Linear Ratings Results of Interest:
The CW’s Tom Swift saw its numbers slip this past week to a 0.05 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 292K total viewers, airing after a repeat of Superman & Lois. Those might be okay numbers for a Summer show during a normal year, but the network is in the process of getting sold and has been clearing the schedule of underperformers. I already had that one On the Bubble, and considering the fact that it will lose its Superman & Lois lead-in altogether soon (it wraps up its second season at the end of the month), I expect the numbers to drop further.
I missed the premiere of Roswell New Mexico on The CW on Monday two weeks ago. The fourth season of that one returned with a 0.05 rating and 434K then improved slightly to a 0.06 score with 468K total viewers last week. It was one of the shows included in this season’s cancellations, so it is airing out its final year.
On Wednesday, The CW’s The Flash slipped to an all-time low, posting a 0.08 rating in the demo with 502K total viewers. That show will be wrapping up its current season at the end of the month and will be back with its ninth season in early 2023. On Thursday, Legacies slipped a tick for its series finale to a 0.09 score with 412K total viewers. Fans are still trying to get that show at least one more season.
On Sunday, HBO’s The Time Traveler’s Wife ticked up to a 0.04 rating with 203K total viewers for its season finale. The six-part series adapted the story of the book, but any plans to continue beyond that point may be in doubt due to low viewership.
