Sci Fi/Horror Series From Has Been Renewed by Epix for Second Season

The story will continue for the new sci fi/horror entry From as that one has been renewed for a second season by Epix which will consist of ten episodes.  The news does not come as a surprise as that cable channel has an incentive to support its originals as it continues to establish itself in that arena.  Nielsen does not track viewing for Epix and no specific numbers have been released for the show’s first season, but the cabler claims that its premiere was the most-watched among its originals and that overall the show was the second most-watched next to Godfather of Harlem.  It has been well-received critics and viewers so far, holding a 94% Fresh Rating and 87% Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes.   The show is executive produced by the Russo brothers, and it also has Lost alums Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner onboard. Former Lost actor Harold Perrineau leads the cast.  Epix president Michael Wright had the following to say about the first year.

The first season of From mystified, enthralled, and terrified fans and critics alike with its haunting world, vivid characters and thrilling scares.  We have been delighted by the social conversation generated by the From community and can’t wait to unravel more of this mysterious story with our passionate fans in season two.

Deadline offered a teaser of what to expect from the show in its second year:

In season two, hidden truths about the nature and terrifying origins of the town begin to emerge, even as life for its residents is plunged into chaos by the arrival of mysterious newcomers.

That should premiere at some point in 2023.  Epix is owned by MGM which was recently purchased by Amazon.  Whether the series will be available to view through Prime Video at some point remains to be seen.

From focuses on a nightmarish town in middle America that traps everyone who enters.  Once there, they try to find a way out while struggling to survive against the threat of monsters from the surrounding forest who come out at night.  It stars Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, David Alpay, and Elizabeth Saunders.
