Ratings Results of Interest
On Sunday, The Walking Dead improved from last week’s series low, posting a 0.45 rating based on same day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 1.8 million total viewers. That show is currently in its final season. Over on The CW, Riverdale returned with new episodes but saw its numbers drop to a 0.05 rating (a series low) with 230K total viewers. A seventh season of that show could be up in the air at this point.
Over on Starz on Sunday, Outlander improved a tick to a 0.06 rating in the demo with with 575K total viewers. That show has been renewed for a seventh season but could be wrapping up around that point. Leading out from that, Shining Vale improved slightly to a 0.03 rating with 194K total viewers, but that one remains firmly On the Bubble.
On Friday, The CW’s Charmed improved to a 0.09 rating with 453K total viewers–decent numbers for a Friday night–and I like its chances for a fifth season despite the possible change in network ownership. On Wednesday, The Flash slipped yet again, this time to a 0.12 rating with 558K total viewers. But that one should still continue into a ninth season. Leading out from that, Kung Fu slipped to a 0.08 rating with 469K total viewers as it has gotten off to a slow start in its second season.
Over on Syfy on Wednesday, Resident Alien improved to a 0.15 rating with 1.1 million total viewers for its mid-season finale. That one resumes new episodes in Summer and appears to be on track for a third season renewal. In the lead-out hour, Astrid & Lilly Save the World remained low at a 0.04 rating with 221K total viewers. Fans need to start making some noise for that one to have any chance of surviving to a second season. On Monday, TNT’s Snowpiercer picked up speed to a 0.13 rating with 545K total viewers. It has already been renewed for a fourth season.
