Ratings Results of Interest
Starz’s fantasy drama Outlander returned for its sixth season on Sunday night, but posted only a 0.05 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 641K total viewers. That is nearly a 60% drop from the 0.12 rating the show averaged in its fifth year, though it could be making up slack with digitial viewing. That one has been a venerable franchise for the network, and it is already renewed for a seventh season.
The horror-comedy Shining Vale had its premiere on Sunday on Starz in the lead-out hour, but despite the star power from its cast it did not land in the Top 150 cable shows for the night. It managed only a 0.02 rating in the demo with 204K total viewers which is not a very promising start. Over on AMC, The Walking Dead ticked up to a 0.42 rating with 1.9 million total viewers as it continues through its final season.
On Thursday, Ghosts slipped a bit to a 0.52 rating with 5.5 million total viewers, but that one has already been renewed for a second season by CBS. Over on The CW, Legacies improved a tick to a 0.08 score with 356K total viewers and appears to be on track for a fifth year renewal.
On Wednesday, Legends of Tomorrow remained on the low side for its season finale, pulling a 0.08 rating with 457K total viewers of The CW. Batwoman slipped for its season finale to a 0.07 score with 415K total viewers. Both could still return next year, but that could change if new owners come onboard.
Over on Syfy, Resident Alien improved to a 0.13 rating with 962K total viewers as it continues to perform well for its network. But Astrid & Lilly Save the World ticked down to a 0.04 rating with 225K total viewers and that one certainly needs some help from its fans if there is any hope of it returning for a second season.
On Tuesday, The CW’s Superman & Lois ticked down to a 0.15 rating with 761K total viewers, but that one will almost certainly soar into a third season. In the lead-out out, Naomi had a 0.10 rating with 477K total viewers and it could stick around for a 2nd season. On Monday, TNT’s Snowpiercer slowed to a 0.12 rating with 575K total viewers, but it has already been renewed for a fourth season.
