Status Updates: Missions is Ending, Creepshow Waiting for Word on Fourth Season, and More

Status Updates: Updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows currently airing/streaming or those waiting for word on their fates. You can see the status of all the active, returning, upcoming, and recently cancelled/ended shows at our Cancellation Watch Page.

Missions (Shudder)

[Updated]

(Completed 2nd Season, Renewed for 3rd and final Season): There had been no word on this show since its second season was released in 2019, and it is no longer streaming on Shudder, so apparently AMC (which owns that service) is no longer backing it. But apparently a third and final season has been completed and will air in France at some point in 2021 (thanks to Coverley for passing along that info).  I expect that will be available in the States at some point, but it will likely move to a new venue.  Keep an eye out for updates on its availability.

Creepshow (Shudder)

(Completed 3rd Season, Renewal Possible): This horror anthology has proven quite popular for the Shudder streaming service, setting viewership records and also receiving good buzz from critics and fans (plus, it has done well in its encore runs on AMC). It has completed its third season and there has been no word on a fourth yet. But I expect that it will be back for another year and possibly more.

Doom Patrol (Netflix)

(Completed 3rd Season, Renewed for 4th Season): Both this show and Titans have been renewed for a fourth season. The other streamers have a tendency to cap off their shows around the third or fourth season mark, but it remains to be seen how long HBO Max will let it scripted originals run.

Lucifer (Netflix)

(Completed 6th Season, Ended): This show proved to be a hit for Netflix after they saved it from cancellation by FOX. Its sixth season was announced in advance as its last, giving it the chance to wrap up its storylines. But don’t be surprised if the streamer considers a spin-off series or perhaps a few additional movies as this appears to be a franchise that could keep itself going for a few more years.

Hit Monkey (Hulu)

(Streaming 1st Season, Renewal Possible): Like Helstrom and MODOK, this is one of the projects that started at the now-defunct Marvel TV before moving under Marvel Studios. The former series was cancelled after one season and MODOK is currently in limbo, so it remains to be seen if Hit Monkey has a chance of continuing to a second season.

Young Justice (HBO Max)

(Streaming 4th Season, Renewal Possible): The fourth season will get this show close to the hundred-episode mark which is a fairly notable run for an animated series. It has proven quite popular since getting revived by DCU then moving over to HBO Max, but whether it will continue into a fifth season remains to be seen.
