Ratings Results of Interest:

On Friday of last week, Syfy’s Day of the Dead slipped a tick to a 0.05 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 216K total viewers. Those numbers are low even for Syfy, and this show has not received much in the way of promotion. The network does not have an ownership stake in the reboot of the George A. Romero zombie film, so the only way they make money is from advertising revenue. And with ratings like this, the show is likely not getting good ad rates. I am moving this one to Bubble status, and if it gets shifted out of Prime Time like we saw with Vagrant Queen in Spring of 2020, consider it dead.

On Wednesday, FX’s American Horror Story slipped to a 0.17 rating with 579K total viewers for its season finale which was close to a series low point. But that one has already been renewed through its thirteenth season.  On Thursday, Ghosts slipped to a 0.53 rating in the demo with 5.2 million total viewers for CBS, but that one has already been picked up for a full season.   On Sunday, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead slipped to a 0.22 rating with 955K total viewers.  Don’t be surprised if the network announces the show’s current season as its last.  I covered the ratings from early in the week in Friday’s Sci Fi TV Update post, and following are the numbers for all the sci fi and fantasy shows from the prior week. Status Update:

There has been no official word on the status of the sci fi drama Pandora since it wrapped up its second season in Fall 2020, but a third season could be in the works and the show could be headed to a new network. That one was originally acquired by The CW to pad out its scripted offerings during the Summer months, and the first season had acceptable numbers based on linear viewing. The second season was pushed to Fall due to the COVID-related production delays, and its numbers dropped notably, averaging only a 0.07 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic. There has since been no word from The CW on a third season and there had been reports that the show was cancelled.   According to a recent post on TVLine.com, “a source close to the production” has indicated that work on the show’s third season is in fact underway and that the should could shift to a new U.S. network.  More on that at this link.
