Sci Fi TV Listings for the Week of June 7th: Loki Premieres on Disney+, Manifest Has Its S3 Finale, and More

Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.

Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Shows Premiering This Week

One more genre series joins the Summer schedule this week as Disney+’s Loki has its debut on the streaming service Wednesday.

Loki (Disney+): After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being deleted from existence due to being a “time variant”, or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. Loki ends up trapped in his own crime thriller, traveling through time and altering human history. This show will release one episode per week through its first season.

Other Schedule Notes

Three shows will be wrapping up their seasons this week. On Thursday, NBC’s Manifest will air its two-hour Season 3 finale. We are still waiting for word on a fourth season renewal for that show. On Saturday, Final Space will have its third season finale on Adult Swim. That show is also waiting for a fourth season renewal. And on Sunday, Fear the Walking Dead will have its sixth season finale. That one has been renewed for a seventh season. Also, the second season of War of the Worlds slipped on the schedule last week with little notice. It airs new episodes on EPIX on Sundays at 9 PM EST with frequent encore runs throughout the week. 1. It’s interesting to consider how bleak things would be at the moment without the CW. They can’t be accused of making much in the way of serious Sci Fi but Legends and The Flash are still fun., I gave up on Legacies (too much teen drama) I’ll give Superman & Lois a go at some point. They can keep the rest. But at least they’re flying the flag.

It would be a pretty empty schedule without them.

    1. And that is true going into the Fall as well. Hoping that their reboot of The 4400 will not be too heavy with teen drama.

    2. Being a senior citizen I mostly agree with your criticism of “too much teen drama”, though the story arcs are fun enough for me to enjoy them (then there’s Riverdale *yuch*).
