Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.
It is Christmas week which means that it will be a slow one for sci fi and fantasy television, but there are a few things to note for the week. FOX’s neXt wraps up its “event series” run (re: it was cancelled) with three episodes airing this week. It will air at a special time on Monday at 8 PM EST, then on Tuesday the final two episodes will air back-to-back. Also on Tuesday, the encore run of Swamp Thing will wrap up on The CW. There is no word on whether the network will pick up a second season of that show which has already been cancelled by DC Universe. The encore run of Cosmos: Possible Worlds on FOX also wraps up this week, airing its final episode after neXt on Monday. The streaming entries The Expanse, Star Trek: Discovery, and The Stand will release new episodes this week, but there will be several preemptions among the broadcast network shows due to the holiday. Mid-Season is almost upon us which will bring the return of shows delayed from Fall like The Flash, Legacies, Manifest, American Horror Story, and more. You can see the full schedule at this link.

Schedule Notes: If a show is listed as On Hiatus, that means that it is taking a break of more than two episodes in a row. If a streaming series is included in the listings after its premiere date, then it releases new episodes once per week on that day as opposed to releasing its entire season at one time.
