Updated with Moonbase 8 ratings

On Sunday, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead slipped a few ticks to a 0.32 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 1.3 million total viewers. Those numbers are still okay for a cable series these days and this one still has a chance of sticking around for a seventh season. Leading out from that, The Walking Dead: World Beyond also slipped, pulling a 0.20 rating with 783K total viewers. That show was set in advance for a two-season run. Showtime’s sci fi comedy Moonbase 8 again fell out of the Cable Top 150, managing only a 0.01 rating with 61K total viewers.

On Thursday, The CW’s Supernatural held at a 0.3 rating with one million total viewers for its penultimate episode. That series wraps up its fifteen-year run this week. In the lead-out hour, The Outpost held at a 0.1 rating with 419K total viewers. Over on CBS, the encore run of Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 held at a 0.3 with just under two million total viewers.

On Tuesday, FOX’s neXt returned after three weeks of preemptions and held at a 0.3 rating with 1.1 million total viewers. That show has been cancelled by the network. Over on The CW, Swamp Thing slipped from its last airing to a 0.1 rating with 735K total viewers. It is possible that the network could pick that one up for a second season, but it will probably take a Call to Action on the social networks from fans.

Renewal and Cancellation Announcements

Netflix renewed two shows last week and also cancelled one. The Umbrella Academy was renewed for a third year as expected as that superhero series has proven quite popular for the streamer across its first two seasons. The comedy series Space Force finally received a second season renewal after there had been no word on its fate for several months. It will be moving production to Vancouver from Los Angeles to save costs, and those negotiations may have stalled the Season 2 announcement. Not returning for another season on Netflix is the Supernatural drama The Order. That show has not received much promotion from Netflix, though it has developed a devoted audience. But the streamer decided not to keep the show going for a third season. More on that at this link.

Status Updates of Interest

For the status updates on all of the currently airing shows plus those awaiting word on their fate, go to this link.

Moonbase 8 (Showtime, Airing 1st Season, Status – On the Bubble): Showtime has scheduled this one outside of the Prime Time hours and it registered only a 0.01 rating (one one-hundredth of a rating point) in same-day viewing for its premiere. It is an independently funded series and likely does not cost the cable channel much, but no matter how you look at it, that does not count as a good start.

The Terror (AMC, 2nd Season Ended, Status – On the Bubble): After proving to be a hit for AMC in its first season, this show returned with ratings down notably in its second year. The series reboots itself each year, and network execs were previously listening to pitches for a third season. But it has been over a year since the second season wrapped up, so it is seeming less and less likely that this one will return for a third year.

  1. Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn’t yet watched the latest episode of Fear the Walking Dead!. With the sixth episode of its sixth season, Fear the Walking Dead pulled its character-specific focus in on Jenna Elfman’s June and her dauntless efforts to make the world a better place with her medical skillset. Even, as it turned out, at the expense of her most important relationship with Garret Dillahunt’s John Dorie. The episode basically worked like an “Event Episode” of a medical drama like Grey’s Anatomy or ER, with a major disaster testing everyone’s physical and mental mettle.
