Breaking News: AMC Has Cancelled NOS4A2 after Two Seasons

Coming as no surprise, AMC has cancelled its supernatural drama NOS4A2 after two seasons. That show aired its Season 2 finale over a week back and has been On the Bubble since the season began. It never counted as a big hit in the ratings and its numbers dropped notably in its second year, only averaging a 0.11 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with the BBC American simulcast numbers included. That had the show down by 43% from its first season and it was not seeing much in the way of delayed viewing gains. I had not moved it to Cancellation Likely status in the chance that it had international and/or streaming deals that might have kept it viable for the network. But anything that may have been in place was apparently not enough to help it to a third season. It did wrap up its main storyline, so it does not leave viewers on a cliffhanger. Whether fans will make a Call to Action and lobby for this one to move to another venue remains to be seen. You can see the full rundown of the cancelled/ended shows from the 2019-20 season at this link, and you can see the rundown of those currently awaiting word on their fate at this link.

NOS4A2 focuses on a young woman named Vic McQueen who discovers she has a special ability to find lost things. This leads her on a dangerous path when she comes into contact with the sinister immortal Charlie Manx who feeds off the souls of children. It stars Ashleigh Cummings, Zachary Quinto, Jahkara J. Smith, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Virginia Kull and is based on the Joe Hill novel of the same name.

Expect more announcements now that the 2019-20 season ended as we are still waiting for word on shows like Netflix’s Cursed, AMC’s Dispatches from Elsewhere, and Hulu’s Castle Rock.
