Ratings Results of Interest

On Sunday, HBO’s Lovecraft Country held steady at a 0.23 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 867K total viewers for its second episode. Digital and delayed viewing along with encore runs will help boost those numbers as this show is off to a decent start at this point. On AMC, NOS4A2 held at a 0.10 rating with 353K total viewers (the numbers for the BBC America simulcast are not available yet). That keeps the show very much On the Bubble as there has been no word on a Season 3 renewal. Over on Syfy, Wynonna Earp slipped a tick to a 0.06 score with 266K total viewers. Fans are currently lobbying for a fifth season of that show.

On Wednesday on The CW, The 100 held at a 0.1 rating with 541K total viewers. That show is going on another short break and will resume new episodes in September. On Tuesday, Dead Pixels had its premiere on The CW pulling a 0.1 rating with 419K total viewers. That is about normal for Summer acquisitions on that network and the show has already been renewed for a second season in its home country of Britain.

Renewal and Cancelation Announcements

Coming as no surprise, Netflix has given a second season renewal to its supernatural fantasy Warrior Nun. That show has received good buzz from critics and fans in its first season, currently holding a 70% Fresh Rating and 76% Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes. It also ranked as high as Number 3 on IMDb Pro’s MovieMeter shortly after its release.

Three genre shows were cancelled on Friday starting with Netflix’s The Society and I Am Not Okay With This. Both of those were cancelled due to the increased costs related to keeping the cast and crew safe in the current COVID environment. Also cancelled was Showtime’s Penny Dreadful spin-off Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. That show never attracted much of an audience and will be ending after one season.

Status Updates of Interest

For the status updates on all of the currently airing shows plus those awaiting word on their fate, go to this link.

Devs (Hulu, Season Ended, Status – Ended): This show was billed as a “limited series”, but it left open the possibility that its story could continue.  There has been no word on a second season, though, so I am counting it as ended at this point.

Tales from the Loop (Amazon, Season Ended, Status – Renewal Possible): The streaming services tend to give their originals at least two seasons, but there has been no word on this one yet.  It did receive very good buzz after its first season was released, so there is still a chance it could return for a second year.
