The group that previously produced content for the Stargate Command site with MGM is working on a new site called The Companion that will be dedicated to sci fi. They have a Kickstarter campaign in place to raise the final amount of money they need to get the site up and running. Below is their video and more information on what they are doing. One part magazine, one part behind-the-scenes companion book, one part DVD extras
We’ve always loved detailed companion books and we thought the DVD extras were the best part, but they can be expensive or hard to find. We wanted to build something that could offer all of those stories but inexpensive, like $1 or £1 per week.
The Companion is an insider look at who, how, and why our favourite films and shows were made from the cast, crew and experts who were there. As an app/website, we can keep the material up-to-date, and it’ll always be with you in your pocket. Daily content, fun trivia, with 200 stories a year.

The Companion is also about featuring the shows that made us. Telling undiscovered stories of Stargate, sharing Easter Eggs about Firefly, and bringing back old friends from Buffy – we want to tell the stories that won’t be told anywhere else.

Season 1 – the 90s!
We’ve decided to release content based on 3-month seasons. Starting this summer in August, Season 1 will feature 50 pieces (articles, podcasts, infographics and artwork) covering the films and shows that influenced modern culture and shaped our childhoods – the 90s!
