Weekly Roundup: Stargirl Slips, What We Do in the Shadows Improves, and More

Weekly Roundup: Ratings results and status updates on all the currently airing sci fi & fantasy shows as well as those still awaiting word on their fates. For the latest ratings updates throughout the week, be sure to follow the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site

Ratings Results of Interest: On Tuesday of last week, The CW’s Stargirl slipped to a 0.2 rating with 1.1 million total viewers. That show is flying solo at the moment, with little else in the way of new programming on the network, so the drop does not come as a surprise. On FX on Wednesday, What We Do in the Shadows improved slightly to a 0.17 rating with 406K total viewers for its season finale. It has been renewed for a third year.  On Sunday, TNT’s Snowpiercer held steady at a 0.28 rating with 1.2 million total viewers.  It has already been renewed for a second season.

The rest of the shows held mostly steady in the ratings, and below are the numbers for all the sci fi and fantasy entries from the past week. You can see more detailed ratings info for the week at this link.  Be sure to follow the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site for the latest results and breaking news and to join the #CancelledSciFiArmy as we fight to save our sci fi shows.  For more info on what the ratings mean and how I use them to gauge the status of a show, check our our Cancelled Sci Fi FAQ Page.  Ratings Source: ShowBuzzDaily

Status Updates of Interest

For the status updates on all of the currently airing shows plus those awaiting word on their fate, go to this link.

Manifest (NBC, Returning, Status – Renewed): As expected, this show has been renewed for a third season. Its same-day viewing numbers were down in its second year, but it was a top performer in delayed viewing and the broadcast networks can’t ignore that in the Peak TV crunch era.

Watchmen (HBO, Season Ended, Status Pending): While the same-day viewing numbers for this show were soft in its first season, it did very well in delayed and digital viewing.  Series creator Damon Lindelof has said that “there are no current plans to make” to make a second season, but he doesn’t want to “close the door completely” on a continuation.  If there is a second season, it may be a few years down the road.
